No excuse!

Bush steps on us

The photo highlighted by Daithí Mac Lochlainn, a 9/11 survivor, in Worth a Thousand Words…

I’ve been to Auschwitz, Pearl Harbor, Arlington, Gettysburg, and the WTC site. In each of these you walk carefully, faced with the enormity of what the place represents. You stand there overwhelmed by the sense of man’s sinfulness. This man is disrespectful at best. From a President of the United States there is no excuse. We are no more than a doormat for his whims.

  1. He has always been disrespectful. His ego and perceptions are the only thing he knows. He was brought up as a spoiled rich kid, whose father rescued him from every problem. He doesn’t understand how money is created. He also doesn’t understand consequences – that is the most important thing about him. So if you don’t like what he does, vote for the Democrats because that’s the only way right now to prevent him from continuing to trample on everything in his way. (Sure the Dems will turn bad later on; but that’s later on. Just criticisng him now will not stop his quest for absolute power to prove he’s right; people proving themselves right are very destructive.) So vote Democratic this time.

  2. I agree with the whle disrespectful bit, this guy is an evil a** clown in my book, but i manipulate images for a living and this looks off to me. Not that it is, but the photographer could have done better, unless it was just something he/she caught in the editing room. Bush is anti American! Look at what he has done to her. Dignity indeed Govner.

  3. Patriot,

The Washington Monthly carried a series of articles on why conservatives should vote Democrat in November. I agree. Unless the excesses of the Republican Party are corrected it will be much harder to achieve a conservative consensus.

    Sheriff,

There’s been a lot of conjecture as to whether the photo was Shopped. Another blog (I’ll try to remember the site) contacted the Reuters photographer. It was not shopped. Reuters and other news outlets have carried it.

They also had a debate on whether it is really a flag vs. whether it cannot be considered a flag, but something else, blah, blah…

In any case, someone with a deeper sense of what he represents would walk around it. Even someone keenly self-interested would take a bye. The President is just not lucid enough to recognize the symbolism (and where were the handlers…)

Precisely. If I remember correctly, it was referred to as a ‘rug’ – which in this case especially, was not made to walk or stand upon. The man has no sense of anything: respect, wonder, awe, gratitude….

    At best…..

  5. You all don’t realize that Bush is not what he seems. He is not a failure when his job has been to act like a failure. He’s done a pristine job for the CEO’s he works for.

  6. It’s the worst photoshop job I’ve ever seen, and you socialists are using it as an opportunity to get people spun up.
    You make me sick.

  7. Simpson,

Like our President, I guess you just don’t bother with reading what others have written or with checking out the facts of the case. You are also a photojournalist and forensic examiner. You also like to label people who disagree with your agenda – a lovefest for a man with blood on his hands – who is not a Christian, and definitely not a conservative.

I certainly hope that every maimed soldier and every body coming back from Mr. Bush’s revenge war in Iraq make you sick as well – they should.

I point you to the Reuters News Agency which will be happy to confirm the photo’s authenticity. You can also feel free to reach out to the photographer – Jason Reed. Or, you can read Mr. Reed’s response to another inquiry reprinted at Thinking and Driving.

  8. Simpson,

How do you “loyal republicans” live with yourselves, trying to justify the monsters and criminals running our country. Seems no matter how stupid and puppetlike you may be, you’d realize that these people are just plain evil and self serving. It’s not a left or right thing, Bush would be just as corrupt if he were a liberal as he is being a conservative.

In fact, you all should be mad as hell that they’ve thrown the reputation of the GOP in the toilet.

He walks on the rug just as he’s walked on the lives of good American soldiers in the name of oil and Daddy’s Revenge. Wake up and smell the stinkweed
