Designing and hosting church websites

26 October 2009 - By

I’m not sure my readers are aware, but beyond this blog I have designed, and host, several PNCC Parish websites.

Based on that work I have been approached by Parishes in other denominations for assistance on their sites. Because of this outreach, and to stay on the up-and-up, I am adding a page for Church Website Design. If anyone is interested in my services please feel free to contact me via that page.

The Polish Museum of American launched a new blog over the summer. It is a great source of information on the events at the PMA. I’ve added the link to the blogroll.

Poetry notes

The return of the epic:

Dr. John Guzlowski informs that Matt Flumerfelt has been working on an epic poem based on the labors of Hercules, and he’s posted the first XIV books at his blog Baloney Emporium. Dr. Guzlowski has blogged about it with a sample from the poem. He says: Matt is a demon rhymer, and I think he’s going to bring rhyming back!

On the Psalms:

Dr. Guzlowski has also posted a short piece about Charles Swanson’s book of poemsAfter the Garden: Selected Responses to the Psalms.” Mr. Swanson’s poems bring together his love of the psalms and stories from his own life.

Spirits – earthly and otherwise

Abel Pharmboy writes the Friday Fermentable on wines, beers, and spirits and other assorted interesting stuff at Terra Sigillata. In The Friday Fermentable: Wine Authorities Spread the Gospel of Roséism he gives a nod to his days as an altar boy in the PNCC.

There are too many highlights to list but as a former Polish National Catholic altar boy, I particularly appreciate the incensing technique of the Jewish co-owner, Seth Gross, using a bottle of rosé. The nod to Jimi Hendrix at the end was also a nice touch of reverence.

I appreciate the sense of humor here, great information in general. For those who like a mix of science and practicality with a nod to the higher life, his posts are worth checking out.

By-the-by, we can always use a good recommendation for those post synodal dinners. Perhaps a recommendation?

Twittering – with the mask removed

What is blogging all about

John Guzlowski writes about blogging in Blogging for Dollars!–A Self-Interview at Salon:

Let me begin this self-interview by saying that I wouldn’t cross the street to interview myself.

One of my favorite writers is Isaac Bashevis Singer, a man who gave more than a million interviews. Once, an interviewer asked him who his favorite writer was and what would he like to say to him if he were interviewing him.

What did Singer say?

He said his favorite writer was Dostoevsky (a surprising answer) and that he wouldn’t cross the street to talk to him…

I’ve met some of the most interesting, dynamic, and engaging people through this blog, people I not only respect, even though our views may be divergent at times, but people I would love to have as real-life friends, folks who will sit down with you over a cup of coffee, tea, a glass of beer, or a shot of vodka and just be. Thanks for bringing the message home John.

People rejoice, all nations listen: Christ God is risen! Let us rejoice!

19 April 2009 - By

Wishing the happiest and most blessed of days to all my Orthodox friends and fellow bloggers, especially the Father Waldemar, Deacon Raphael, Deacon Methodius, and the Young Fogey.

Christ is risen! Alleluia!
He is truly risen! Alleluia!

A joyous and happy Easter to all my readers

Christ has risen! Alleluia!
He has truly risen! Alleluia!

As our pastor explained this morning: The angel in the tomb is impatient with the onlookers. The angel tells us, ‘Go out from here, He is not here. Go and witness to Him.’

So I say: Let us join in our joyful witness to the truth of the resurrection, the reason for our hope.

I wish you and yours every blessing on this Solemnity of the Resurrection.
